Night riding: what your score can't measure

A smooth 95-score night ride can still be a genuinely risky one — the safety score measures how you ride, not everything about the conditions you're riding in.

Reduced visibility, oncoming high-beam glare, and animal crossings don't show up as harsh-braking events until it's almost too late to avoid one. Fatigue compounds this: reaction time degrades well before you'd notice it subjectively.

Until the scoring model accounts for ambient light and time-of-day risk directly, treat a high night-ride score as encouraging, not conclusive — the fundamentals (low-beam discipline, extra following distance, more frequent breaks) still apply regardless of what the number says.
