A long but flat highway ride south, skirting Delhi's outer edges via the expressway network before dropping into Agra's dense heritage core. The Taj Mahal needs no introduction, but Agra Fort's red sandstone ramparts and the Itmad-ud-Daulah tomb (often called the 'Baby Taj') round out a city with three major Mughal-era sites within a few kilometres of each other. Traffic is the main issue on this route — heavy through NCR towns and again inside Agra itself, where tour buses clog the roads near the monuments. The distance makes this a genuinely long day trip; many riders prefer an overnight stay to see the Taj at both sunrise and sunset light without rushing. Vehicle restrictions apply close to the Taj Mahal complex, so plan for some walking or an e-rickshaw transfer at the end.
